New Age Kurling
DELTA Disability Social Group has a New Age Kurling Club which meets on the third Thursday of every month in Ringmer Village Hall at 12 noon until 3 pm. This friendly club is open to disabled and able-bodied alike.
New Age Kurling is a sport which can be played by anyone, regardless of physical disabilities, age or gender. For people that may have problems bending we have pushers and for those with severe disabilities we have a shute available.
It is played on any smooth surface but generally on a sports hall type floor. It can be played in singles, pairs or in teams of 4. Similar to Kurling it is played with stones which are made from rubber and has bearings on the bottom which help it to glide across the floor.
At present we have four teams which regularly compete against each other (with a great deal of laughter!). At 1 pm, we break for lunch and a natter.
Each session is £3 and transport is available from Lewes and parts of Ringmer.

On Thursday, 27 August 2009, DELTA New Age Kurling Club of Ringmer held its Second In-House competition in the Village Hall. Four teams (red, blue, yellow and orange) were involved and the orange team consisting of Coralie, John, Theresa, (not shown above), Robbie and Pauline won. Well done to them!
The winning team members received awards each for their efforts in the competition. Additionally, a larger trophy was given to the Skip (Coralie) as a momentum of the day. Photos of the awards being given out are shown below.
